# Official MCP Registry

> The official MCP Registry, live at registry.modelcontextprotocol.io since its preview on 8 September 2025, is a metaregistry that stores server.json metadata rather than code; it validates namespace ownership via reverse-DNS or GitHub OIDC and exposes a REST API such as GET /v0/servers.

The authoritative registry for publicly available MCP servers.
